Bill Lane has been President of the CEDU School in California. He has worked for about 40 years with young people with assorted troubles and their parents in the therapeutic boarding school market. He estimates that he has actually worked with over 10,000 families to provide transport to all kinds of good therapeutic boarding schools.
How Does An Adolescent Transport Service Work?
An adolescent transportation service specializes in de-escalating the transport of a struggling teenager or young adult from his or her home to boarding schools, therapeutic schools, wilderness programs, or residential treatment centers.
Lane and his team know how to connect with adolescents. When they escort a new student to a program, it is not unusual for them to be warmly greeted and hugged by adolescents they had formerly escorted. By the time adolescents arrive at a therapeutic program, much of the anger and fear has dissipated. The time spent in transport, whether it is by plane or car, is used by agents to engage in deep conversations to make a smooth transition from the adolescent's home environment to the new educational and therapeutic facility.
The teams also work very closely with the parents at home and the professionals at the destination therapeutic program, informing them about all phases of the transportation via calls or text messaging. Additionally, special care is taken to select the right agents to do the transport, because the rapport that develops between the agents and the adolescent can have a lasting positive impact. Lane emphasized to Woodbury that for successful, drama-free transport, every adolescent has to be treated with dignity and respect.
All transport arrangements are made by the adolescent transportation services to decrease the tension experienced by the parents, bearing in mind cost and efficiency. Seldom is force ever used before transportation, and at no time is the adolescent allowed to be alone from the time the agents start the transport. Once the trip is finished and the adolescent is securely with the picked program, the agent will then call the mother and father and provide a full description of the journey.
Besides talking about the transport itself, Lane also went over with Woodbury the many ways to choose great Adolescent Transportation Services and the requirements utilized for selecting the best transport. representatives
