Just what is Social Angst Disorder?

This is something that most people never know they have, it varies in degree with each being worse compared to the last. This creates the question, precisely what is social anxiety? Well, it is simply speaking a profound state of nervousness when one is in any sort of social setting. It can also be described as the extreme dread of being scrutinized or getting every step judged in a negative way by other people. This unreasonable and excessive fear of "messing up and being judged" in public makes individuals dealing with it powerless in social situations. The sensation that everybody is looking at them makes individuals suffering from anxiety freeze in their tracks.

This is easily one of the most typical of all stress and anxiety disorders and it does not have a particular targeted demographic. It can therefore affect people of all ages at any given time or social gathering. It impacts over 300 million people worldwide. There are a number of regular social settings that cause trouble to all victims, simple stuff including eating and drinking may cause an anxiety attack. A person who suffers from social anxiety has the constant sensation that they are going to do something wrong in public. The anxiousness comes from that fear of humiliation. The pressure is worsened by the obvious lack of social skills which come in handy when you are trying to salvage a situation. When these types of situations take place often enough, a person's social anxiety disorder can reach dangerous levels.

Individuals who live with social anxiety do every thing within their means to stay clear of any social gathering where they may be called upon to speak or do something. This anxiety constraints people's lives into a recurring never ending nightmare. Every social situation varies from person to person as they may include anything from speaking in public to the basic things like responding to a question in class. The traumatic experience which is caused by this disorder, commonly lead to devastating results. In severe cases, social anxiety results in panic attacks. These last for a timeframe of minutes depending on the seriousness and are accompanied by overwhelming periods of shaking and irregular heartbeats. It is such a detrimental barrier to normal physical conditions that the sufferers can form psychological health problems.

It can have a ripple effect and make the individual fail at something they have been doing their entire life. The fear associated with this anxiety disorder frightens an individual into a condition of low quality social performances. Since most schooling and work activities will include social interactions with other individuals, this anxiety could be deemed an obstacle to success. To be successful in life, one needs great inter-personal relationships and social anxiety completely suffocates this. No matter how hard they try, people struggling with it end up feeling ashamed or humiliated.

The inferiority complex caused by social anxiety disorder causes some people to continue being self-conscious through every little thing they do. It is no wonder that people who struggle with it have little or no social lives and that effectively sidelines friendships and intimate relationships. This is despite of whether they are in a social setting or not. Approaching different individuals turns into such a difficult task that most social anxiety victims simply opt to avoid it altogether. There is little need of pointing out what the effects of a non-existent social life might do to a particular person. Depression is bound to slowly creep in with every waking day as the social anxiety becomes more severe.

People struggling with the disorder consistently tend to sense that something is wrong but do not quite comprehend that what they experience is the actual problem. All manner of taunting brings on all the effects of social anxiety, they include the uncontrollable sweat, palpitations and to some extent, the feeling of nausea. When left unchecked, these symptoms get to unmanageable levels and prove to become major impediments. Treatment should therefore be pursued as soon as the symptoms appear. It is simple to spot them as they only show up when one is in public. The treatment includes different medications and therapeutic training sessions, and a doctor is in the best position to identify what alternative to take.

If social situations make you feel a smidgen weary, this could be a clear result of the disorder. Keeping vigilant will help to recognize any of its characteristics before it gets out of hand.
